I started 2018 with big goals and big ideas. I wanted to stop dreaming and start doing. Do the things I’ve put on the back-burner, to develop habits that would mold me into my best self. And to do that, I knew I had to begin small. So that’s why I’m challenging myself in different ways every month. To start off the year, I decided on 30 days of meditation.
31 days x 5 minutes of meditation = 155 minutes of meditation
155 minutes of sitting still, of breathing, of just being.
Pretty damn powerful.
I’ve grown in acceptance.
I think the best part of meditating for me has been that I’ve swapped overthinking and overanalyzing to accepting and growing in the moment.
A deep breath has a new meaning and purpose.
A simple breath has gained so much meaning in the past month. A deep breath used to calm my nerves a bit, now one breath can help me feel more centered when my mind is blasting off into a million different directions.
I’m more comfortable with just sitting still.
While I loved using Headspace (while it was free lol) I now feel more comfortable meditating without a guide – instead with my breathing and heart as my only guide.
I began to share it with others.
No matter where I was, I meditated. So this naturally put me into some different settings and surrounded by people who may not know me so well – but one of the most awesome parts about this challenge was sharing meditation with other people! You’d be surprised at who may join you on your next meditation sesh.
Have you ever tried meditating and how did it go? Let me know in the comments and be sure to read my next blog post on my next challenge!
